COALITION COMIX = VIRGIN COMICS + MYSPACE
Filed Under Virgin Comics, July 21, 2007
I found an interessting announcement on the Virgin Comics Blog: Virgin Comics and Myspace join forces to create a special (unique?) comic book platform: Virgin Comics and MySpace have teamed up to launch Coalition Comix (http://www.myspace.com/coalitioncomix), a new online comic book platform, allowing thousands of participants to work with leading comic book creators in the development and creation of new characters and stories. Sounds like Virgin Comics want to make use of the huge myspace community to get qualified feedback on the creation of new comic stories. So, this will not be a platform for single independent comic book authors, the community will help leading comic book creators to create content that suits to its customers (or the other way arround): Each digital issue will have a real time creation period of two weeks, with sketches, artwork and scripts continuously uploaded for interactivity with the community. The first comic planned will be guided by leading comic book author, Mike Carey (Voodoo Child, X-Men, Ultimate Fantastic Four). Carey will dialogue with readers and guide the development of the plot at each step along the way by reviewing feedback from readers, and posing questions with five or six choices for the Coalition Comix community to choose from. [Source] So, you are a member of myspace and want to contribute? Or just want to watch what’s going on? Go to Coalition Comix and have a look, it will start at August, 2nd.
